Unfortunately, things happen in our lives that disrupt the sleep that we need. These events could be the stresses of the day, worries, illness, etc.

Additionally, one other condition that may cause or disrupt an individuals sleep patterns is snoring. Therefore, it is important to know what sort of snoring devices one can use to control snoring.

What Is Snoring?

Snoring is the sound that sleeping individuals make when they are sleeping. Generally it is a guttural sound that emanates from the airway.

Additionally, even though snoring is annoying and can be sometimes funny, it is important to realize that snoring can be a symptom of a serious problem. One of those serious problems could be sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea can be a life threatening condition. Apnea literally means without breath which is what happens when a person is snoring because the airway is partially obstructed. Therefore, when the individual's snoring is due to sleep apnea they have to wake themselves up in order to breath.

What Causes Snoring?

Specifically, the sound from the airway is caused because there is a narrowing of the airway. This narrowing can be caused by the way the individual sleeps or any irregularities within the air passages. Some of those abnormalities could also include tissue that is larger in size within the throat that can vibrate when the air passes over the tissue.

Snoring Devices Available

There are many snoring devices that are available on the market today. Some of these snoring devices can be simple products that are designed to position the body while some snoring devices are designed for internal use.

One such snoring device is a sleep position monitor. A sleep position monitor is an electronic device that emits a beeping sound when the snorer lays on their back. This snoring device is designed to wake up the individual which in turn may help the individual to develop new sleeping habits.

Another snoring device is a puresleep snoring device. A puresleep snoring device is put into the mouth. Once the device is inserted into the mouth it extends the lower part of the job forward which opens up the airway and minimizes snoring.
